October is finally upon us, and gamers everywhere will be celebrating the spooky season by playing their favorite horror games. Some horror game fans will revisit classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but others may be looking for newer horror game experiences instead.
2025 has been a fairly strong year for new horror games, with all kinds of projects for genre fans to check out. In fact, Cronos: The New Dawn from Bloober Team, Silent Hill f, Dying Light: The Beast, and No, I’m Not A Human released just last month, and should give horror fans plenty to play. But there’s even more to look forward to in October, with six new horror games in particular standing out.
This is not a comprehensive list of every single new horror game releasing in October 2025, but it does highlight some of the higher-profile new releases. Releasing October 9, Bye Sweet Carole is a narrative-driven horror game with an art style highly reminiscent of classic Disney movies, where a woman is trying to find her missing best friend Carole Simmons and investigate the mysterious Bunny Hall orphanage. That same day, horror fans can check out The Lacerator, which sees the titular killer stalking the player character and trying to literally remove their limbs. If main character Max does happen to lose a limb or two, the game goes on and players have to adjust accordingly. The Lacerator lets players choose between fixed-camera angles and an over-the-shoulder, third-person camera, so it should appeal to fans of old-school horror as well as those that prefer newer entries in the genre.
New Horror Games Releasing in October 2025
- Bye Sweet Carole – October 9 (PC/PS5/Switch/Xbox Series X)
- The Lacerator – October 9 (PC)
- Little Nightmares 3 – October 10 (PC/PS4/PS5/Switch/Switch 2/Xbox One/Xbox Series X)
- Days Without Incident – October 22 (PC)
- Tormented Souls 2 – October 23 (PC/PS5/Xbox Series X)
- Ire: A Prologue – October 28 (PC)
The next day, horror game fans can check out Little Nightmares 3. Little Nightmares 3 features the same kind of Tim Burton-esque horrors as the first two games, but the big selling point this time around is the addition of online co-op. Then, on October 22, Days Without Incident releases on PC. A first-person survival-horror game with a look highly reminiscent of the criminally underrated Condemned series, Days Without Incident has players exploring a spooky abandoned factory. The following day, Tormented Souls 2 hits the market. Like its predecessor, expect Tormented Souls 2 to stick closely to the classic Resident Evil formula when it launches on October 23.
Finally, horror fans can mark their calendars for Ire: A Prologue. Ire: A Prologue is a first-person horror game from ProbablyMonsters, the studio led by ex-Bungie CEO Harold Ryan. What’s been seen of Ire: A Prologue so far looks promising, and horror game fans will be able to play it just before Halloween on October 28.
