Speaking in a football.london Q&A, reliable Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has made a behind-the-scenes ‘overhaul’ claim involving Fabio Paratici.

The Lowdown: Tottenham changes…

Over the last month, there have been some shake-ups at Hotspur Way both down to the team and even higher up at boardroom level.

In terms of players, Dele Alli, Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Bryan Gil departed the club either on loan or permanently at the very end of January (Transfermarkt).

Meanwhile, since then, off-field developments have also come to pass with former technical performance director Steve Hitchen recently vacating his post at Tottenham.

Sharing an update on managing director Fabio Paratici’s scouting ‘overhaul’, Gold has some news for Lilywhites fans.

The Latest: Gold makes ‘overhaul’ claim…

The reliable reporter, when asked about the Italian’s efforts to reinvent Tottenham’s scouting department and how it could impact transfer plans, Gold stated:

“There have certainly been plenty of adverts going up in recent weeks for new scouts at both first team and academy level as well as more analysts, which suggests the overhaul is nearing completion.

“What difference Steve Hitchen’s departure makes, as he was helping drive the overhaul with Fabio Paratici, remains to be seen but you would imagine that with a few months until the summer window opens the differences made could start to be felt.”

The Verdict: Crunch time?

Paratici’s handling of the January transfer window has been criticised by those outside the club and this summer could come as make or break for Spurs’ chief.

Re-moulding Tottenham’s scouting department in his own image could ultimately assist the Italian in making up for missing out on key targets last month, potentially in aid to mount a stronger assault for transfer targets later this year.
